Please pray for my ovens...
« on: June 23, 2011, 07:16:14 pm »
I did the unthinkable - I lent out my two original 12 inch duch ovens to...

...girls camp.

I will now wait for the screams of horror to stop.

They are just doing a couple of cobblers, right? Nothing can go wrong with that, right?

They went up this morning, and they are coming back tonight. Good news is that they are both tagged, lid and bottom.

What I HOPE doesn't happen is that some well-thinking person puts a bunch of water in them to soak them out and...um...LEAVES THEM LIKE THAT FOR 12 HOURS.

Oh, what we do for our wives and kids!
There are two rules of Dutch Oven Cooking:
1) If you cook too much food, share.
2) Cook too much food.

So...in case anyone was wondering...

They came back to me in very good form! They look pretty much like they did when I left them, other than I had to finish cleaning them (there was a tiny bit of residue on them).

Crisis averted! Thread level down, my ovens are now back in my hands, cleaned, seasoned, and ready for use.

Oh - and they've already been used once since then. Woo!
