Thanks to my good friend and fellow dutch oven enthusiast, Nathan Mower for this recipe. He made them for a Young Womens Camp meeting and he says that they turned out great. He served them right out of the ovens and they were a big hit.
Ingredients:- Dough for 12 rolls (Use your favorite dinner roll recipe or use frozen roll dough)
- Grated rind of 1 medium orange
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
Glaze:- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon butter, melted
- 3 tablespoons orange juice
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Preparation:Mix orange rind with sugar. Roll each dough ball in melted butter, then in orange rind/sugar mixture. Place in Dutch oven coated with melted butter or sprayed with non-stick cooking spray. Cover and let raise in a warm place until double in size. Bake at 350 degrees (8-10 briquettes bottom heat and 12-14 briquettes top heat) for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown, rotating oven and lid 90 degrees in opposite directions a couple of times during baking.
Mix together glaze ingredients until well-combined. Brush the baked rolls with the glaze while and serve while still warm.
